Rev. Dn. Paul Cherian to be Ordained to the Holy Priesthood (Kashisho)  Rev. Dn. Paul Alummoottil Cherian, (B.Sc., M.Div, M.A. in Counseling) will be, God willing, ordained to the Holy Order of Priesthood on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at his home parish, St. Mary’s Orthodox Church of India, Bronx, New York by their Graces Mathews Mar Barnabas, Diocesan Metropolitan and Zachariah Mar Nicholovos, Assistant Metropolitan. Dn. Paul is the son of Rev. Fr. A.K. Cherian, Vicar of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church of India, Bronx, New York and Mrs. Molly Cherian. Dn. Paul is married to Shallu Thomas-Cherian, who works in the IT Department at the United Nations, New York on April 27, 2009.
Dn. Paul was ordained as a Sub-Deacon on April 13, 2002 and elevated to Full Deacon on Wednesday, April 29 in India. Dn. Paul is one of the Northeast American Diocese Representatives to the National Council of Churches of Christ in the USA and was selected as a Youth Delegate of the Malankara Orthodox Church for the World Council of Churches Meeting in Brazil. Dn. Paul has served as the MGOCSM General Secretary, MGOCSM Mission Coordinator, Coordinator for the Bronx/ Westchester Area MGOCSM and continues to serve in many roles at his home parish. |
